We’ll wake up early to watch the sunrise in the desert (optional but highly recommended). After breakfast, we’ll begin a 4x4 tour to explore the area in detail: We will cross the desert dunes in true Dakar style, venturing into its heart and living a unique experience. You’ll visit a nomadic settlement and have the chance to interact with its inhabitants, learning about their customs and lifestyle.
Next, we’ll head to Mifis, a former French mining and military area, where you can see remnants of mines and structures and catch a glimpse of the Algerian border marked by distant mountain walls.
We’ll visit a panoramic viewpoint to appreciate the desert’s vastness before heading to Khamlia, a village originally founded by people from Mali. In Khamlia, you’ll enjoy traditional tea while listening to a live performance of Gnawa music, including traditional dress, instruments, and dances.
Lunch will be at a restaurant in Khamlia, featuring local specialties like Berber pizza. The rest of the afternoon is free for adventurous activities (subject to availability), a leisurely stroll through the dunes, or a relaxing sunset viewing.
Dinner and overnight accommodation in Merzouga.
