Itinerary

Early in the morning (8:00 AM), we will pick you up from your accommodation to begin our journey. On this adventure, we will pass through numerous towns, such as Ifrane (“the Switzerland of Morocco”) and Azrou, traveling through the Middle Atlas Mountains and the cedar forest (home to ancient trees and Barbary macaques).

We will continue to Midelt, known as the "Apple City," where we will stop for lunch. Later, we will pass through towns such as Errachidia (featuring the majestic Ziz Palm Valley), Erfoud (renowned for its fossil discoveries), and Rissani (famous for dates and its central market). The day concludes at the base of the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi in the Merzouga Desert, home to the tallest dunes in North Africa.

Here, we will embark on a camel excursion through the breathtaking desert, pausing to watch the sunset. After this unforgettable experience, we will reach the heart of the desert and arrive at our camp for the night. You’ll be welcomed with traditional tea and can enjoy a delightful Berber dinner amidst the vast desert. After dinner, we will gather around a fire for a drum music performance, where you’ll have the chance to learn to play traditional Berber instruments, creating a unique experience under one of Africa’s most stunning starry skies.

We’ll wake up before sunrise to witness the spectacular desert sunrise (optional but highly recommended). After breakfast, we’ll begin a 4x4 tour to explore the surrounding area in greater depth. We will cross the desert dunes in true Dakar style, venturing into its heart and living a unique experience.

We’ll visit a nomad settlement to learn about their customs and lifestyle, followed by a stop in "Mifis," a former French mining and military site, where you can still see remnants of mines and constructions. From here, enjoy a panoramic view of the desert and the Algerian border marked by a mountainous wall on the horizon. Next, we’ll head to Khamlia, a small village originally from Mali, where you can savor traditional tea while listening to live Gnawa music (with traditional attire, instruments, and dances).

Lunch will be served in Khamlia at a local restaurant, where you can try regional specialties such as Berber pizza. Afterward, we’ll return to the accommodation to rest.

The rest of the afternoon is free for optional desert activities (availability upon request). You can also explore the dunes, delve deeper into the area, or enjoy the sunset.

Dinner and overnight stay in Merzouga.

After breakfast at the hotel, we will head to Rissani, also known as Sijilmassa, where we’ll visit its traditional market. This city is key to the region, serving as a hub for supplying perishable foods and handicrafts to the surrounding towns, making it one of the largest and oldest markets in the area.

We’ll then bid farewell to the palm valleys around Rissani and continue toward the Dadès Valley, passing through Berber (or Tamazight) villages such as Erfoud and Tinghir. We’ll visit the stunning Todra Gorges, where, time permitting, we’ll stop for exploration.

The day concludes in Dadès, where we’ll have dinner and spend the night.

After breakfast, we’ll travel along the “Road of a Thousand Kasbahs” , crossing the Valley of Roses and the town of Skoura. Here, we will visit the 17th-century Amridil Kasbah.

Our journey continues to Ouarzazate, internationally known for being the filming location for major films like “The Jewel of the Nile” , “Asterix & Obelix: Mission Cleopatra” , and “Kingdom of Heaven” . Known as the “Gateway to the Desert”, the city’s name derives from the Berber language, meaning “without noise” . Dinner and overnight stay in Ouarzazate.

After breakfast, we’ll visit the Kasbah of Taourirt. Then, we’ll stop by the world-famous Atlas Film Studios, which have earned Ouarzazate its nickname, “the Hollywood of Africa.” Here, you’ll see sets from globally acclaimed movies.

Our journey continues toward Marrakech, crossing the High Atlas Mountains. We’ll visit the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a fortified village surrounded by high walls. This iconic location has been the setting for films and series such as “Game of Thrones”, “Gladiator”, and “Prince of Persia”. We’ll pause here for lunch before continuing through the High Atlas Mountains via Tizi n'Tichka Pass (the highest in Morocco, at 2,260 meters) to Marrakech, where we’ll drop you off at your accommodation.

Depending on arrival time in Marrakech, optional activities can be arranged (subject to availability).
