Itinerary

After breakfast, at the agreed time, we will begin our adventure with a guided tour of Fez’s Medina led by an official guide. We’ll wander through its narrow streets, uncover hidden gems, and dive into its rich history. Fez is renowned for housing the largest Medina in the world and is a cradle of culture, as it is home to the world’s first university. The Medina of Fez, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is globally recognized for its craftsmanship, especially in leather and pottery work.

Our first stop will be the majestic gate of the Royal Palace, followed by the Jewish Quarter (dating back to the 14th century). We will visit various historically and culturally significant sites, including the Tanneries and the famous Qarawiyyin University, the oldest in the world.

After immersing ourselves in Fez’s history and culture, we’ll pause for lunch at a traditional Moroccan restaurant before continuing the tour. The day will conclude with a visit to a viewpoint where we can capture the unforgettable panoramic view of Fez’s Medina.

Early in the morning (8:00 AM), we will pick you up from your accommodation to begin our journey. Along the way, we’ll pass through numerous towns, including Ifrane, known as the “Switzerland of Morocco,” and Azrou, where we’ll explore the Middle Atlas and its cedar forest.

Our journey continues through Midelt, the “apple city,” where we will stop for lunch. Finally, we’ll pass through towns such as Errachidia (featuring the majestic palm-lined Ziz Valley), Erfoud (famous for its fossil discoveries), and Rissani (noted for its dates and main market of the province).

We will arrive at the base of the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi, home to the tallest dunes in North Africa. From here, we’ll embark on a camel trek across this majestic desert, pausing to watch the sunset. After this unforgettable moment, we’ll venture deeper into the heart of the desert, arriving at the camp where we’ll spend the night.

You’ll be welcomed with traditional tea and enjoy a delicious Berber dinner amidst the vast desert landscape. After dinner, you can delight in an unforgettable evening featuring a drum performance. Gather around the fire and learn to play traditional Berber instruments, creating a unique experience under one of the most breathtaking starry skies in Africa.

We’ll wake up before sunrise to witness the dawn breaking in the heart of the desert (optional but highly recommended). After breakfast, we’ll begin a 4x4 tour to explore the area in greater detail: we will cross the desert dunes in true Dakar style, venturing into its heart and living a unique experience

We’ll visit a nomadic settlement to interact with the locals and learn about their customs and lifestyle. Next, we’ll head to Mifis, a former French mining and military zone where remnants of mining sites and structures are still visible. From here, you can see the Algerian border, marked by a wall of mountains on the horizon.

We’ll also visit a panoramic viewpoint to admire the vastness of the desert from above, ending with a visit to Khamlia, a village with roots in Mali. In this small community, we’ll enjoy traditional tea while listening to a live performance of Gnawa music, showcasing their traditional attire, instruments, and dances.

Lunch will be at a restaurant in Khamlia, where you can try local dishes such as Berber pizza. After a delightful meal, we’ll head to the accommodation to rest.

The rest of the afternoon is free. Adventurous travelers can participate in additional desert activities (availability upon request). You’ll also have the chance to explore the dunes, delve deeper into the area, or enjoy the sunset. Dinner and overnight stay in Merzouga.

After breakfast at the hotel, we’ll travel to Rissani, also known as Sijilmassa, where we’ll visit its traditional market. Rissani is a vital hub in the region, supplying food and artisan goods to surrounding communities. It is one of the oldest and largest markets in the area.

Following this visit, we’ll bid farewell to the palm valley surrounding the city and head back to Fez. Along the way, we’ll pass through Amazigh towns such as Erfoud and Errachidia, as well as scenic locations like the Ziz Valley.

Midway, we’ll stop in Midelt for lunch. Then, we’ll continue through Azrou and Ifrane, making the most of our last chance to enjoy the picturesque landscapes of the Middle Atlas and cedar forest, home to the iconic Barbary macaques.

We’ll arrive in Fez in the afternoon and proceed directly to your accommodation. Farewell and end of our services.
