Itinerary

Early in the morning (8:00 AM), we will pick you up from your accommodation to start our journey. Along the way, we’ll pass through several towns, including Ifrane, known as the “Switzerland of Morocco,” and Azrou, where you can explore the Middle Atlas and its cedar forests.

We’ll continue our journey through Midelt, the "apple city," where we’ll stop for lunch. Next, we’ll pass through towns like Errachidia, renowned for its majestic palm grove (the Ziz Valley), Erfoud, known for its fossil discoveries, and Rissani, the "date city," which houses the region’s largest traditional market.

Our day ends at the foot of the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi in the Merzouga Desert, which boasts the tallest dunes in North Africa.

From here, we’ll embark on a camel trek through the majestic desert, stopping to watch the sunset. After this unforgettable moment, we’ll journey further into the heart of the desert to reach the camp where you’ll spend the night.

At the camp, you’ll be welcomed with traditional tea and enjoy a delicious Berber dinner amidst the vast desert. After dinner, the night continues with a captivating drum performance, sitting around a fire, and an opportunity to learn to play traditional Berber instruments. This is a unique experience under one of Africa’s most stunning starry skies.

We’ll wake up before sunrise to witness the magnificent desert sunrise (optional but highly recommended!). After breakfast, we’ll start a 4x4 tour to explore the area in more depth: we will cross the desert dunes in true Dakar style, venturing into its heart and living a unique experience.

Our first stop will be a nomadic settlement, where you can interact with the nomads, learning about their customs and lifestyle. We’ll then visit Mifis, a former French mining and military site, where you can still see remnants of the mines and buildings. From this vantage point, you’ll enjoy views of the Algerian border, marked by a wall of mountains on the horizon.

Next, we’ll visit a panoramic viewpoint to appreciate the vastness of the desert, ending with a trip to the village of Khamlia, originally settled by people from Mali. In this small community, you’ll enjoy traditional tea while listening to a live performance of gnawa music, featuring traditional clothing, instruments, and dances.

Lunch will be served at a local restaurant in Khamlia, offering dishes typical of the region, such as Berber pizza. After a delicious meal, we’ll return to your accommodation to rest.

The afternoon is free for optional desert activities (availability upon request). You can explore the dunes further, take a leisurely walk, or enjoy the sunset. Dinner and overnight stay in Merzouga.

After breakfast at the hotel, we’ll head to Rissani, also known as Sijilmassa, to visit its traditional market. Rissani is a vital hub in the region, serving as a supply center for perishable goods and artisanal crafts for nearby communities. It is one of the largest and oldest markets in the area.

After this visit, we’ll bid farewell to the palm groves surrounding the city as we begin our journey back to Fez. Along the way, we’ll pass through Amazigh towns like Erfoud and Errachidia, as well as enchanting areas like the Ziz Valley.

We’ll stop for lunch midway in Midelt, the "apple city." Afterward, we’ll continue through Azrou and Ifrane, offering a final chance to take in the breathtaking landscapes of the Middle Atlas and its cedar forests, home to the distinctive Barbary monkeys.

We’ll arrive in Fez in the afternoon and go directly to your accommodation. Farewell and the end of our services.
