Itinerary
After breakfast, we will pick you up at your hotel to start our adventure toward Chefchaouen. On the way to this enchanting city, we’ll enjoy picturesque landscapes and pass through various traditional villages before reaching the Blue City.
Chefchaouen, founded in 1471 by Moulay Ali Ben Moussa, is located in northeastern Morocco in the Rif Mountains, a region from which it takes its name. The word "Chaouen" means "horns," and the Blue City is so named because of the mountain peaks surrounding it, which are popularly said to resemble horns.
It’s worth noting that this city fell under Spanish occupation and gained its independence in 1956.
Upon our arrival in Chefchaouen, you’ll be able to immerse yourself in and wander through the charming blue alleys of the old Medina. Discover the local craftsmanship and breathtaking panoramas for which the city is world-renowned. Chefchaouen, declared one of the most beautiful cities in the country, is famous for its houses and streets painted in various shades of blue.
Highlights include the old Medina with its cobblestone streets, where you’ll find weavers and other artisans showcasing their crafts. From here, you can also admire the architecture and façade of Chefchaouen's Great Mosque.
We recommend walking along the city walls to see Bab El Ain, a gate connecting the newer part of the city with the southern area of the old Medina.
Other must-see spots include Mohammed V Square and the main square, Uta el Hammam, which houses the red walls of the Kasbah, dating back to the 15th century—a visit highly recommended.
After this remarkable tour, we’ll bid farewell to the Blue City and return to Fez, where our services will conclude.
